CAPTCHAs are a common test on the web and are designed to differentiate between actual users and bots.
The old reCAPTCHA system was pretty easy, just a simple "I'm not a robot" checkbox would get people through your sign-up page.

The new version is even simpler, and it doesn't use a challenge or checkbox. It works invisibly in the background, somehow, to identify bots from humans.

ReCAPTCHA V1. The first tests consisted of tasks such as deciphering difficult-to-read text or distorted digits, matching images, performing math calculations, or answering general-knowledge questions.

ReCAPTCHA V2. Before submitting a form on a website, users are asked to check the "I'm not a robot" box. Suspicious users are subjected to additional tests.

ReCAPTCHA V3. This is the most recent technology that checks the legitimacy of a user's action without ever asking them to perform any actions. It is a JavaScript API that returns a probability score ranging from 0.0 to 1.0 of a user being a human so that website administrators can take appropriate action.

  • The administrator has the option of selecting the type of reCAPTCHA to use on the website.

  • In reCAPTCHA, the administrator will be given three options.

    • Admin can disable ReCAPTCHA for logged-in customers. Admin can enable and disable this option as needed.

    • IP Blacklist - The administrator has the option to block the IP address. The administrator can add single or multiple IP addresses to the block list, and they will be blocked. That specific IP address can no longer access your website.
     
    Email Blacklist - The administrator can choose to block the Email address. The administrator can add a single or multiple Email addresses to the block list, which will result in their blocking. That particular email address is no longer able to login or registers on your website.

    Number reCAPTCHA Only
     
    Number CAPTCHAs provide challenges that are difficult for computers to perform but relatively easy for humans. For example, identifying stretched letters or numbers.
     
    Number reCAPTCHA does not actually require any Google registration. Admin can simply enable this reCAPTCHA and use it on multiple different pages of your website.
     
    Google reCAPTCHA V2 – (I’m not a robot)
     
    Version 2 of reCAPTCHA will necessitate a Google account. Google must generate a site key and a security key for the administrator. Only after you've used that key, this reCAPTCHA can be enabled on a website by the administrator.
    Google reCAPTCHA Size -This version will include a Size option. Admin can select either the standard or compact size of the reCAPTCHA. This is solely dependent on the theme of the store or the requirements of the admins.
     
    Google reCAPTCHA V3
     
    Without causing any user friction, reCAPTCHA v3 returns a score for each request. The score is based on interactions with your site and allows you to take appropriate site action.
    A Google account will be required for Version 3 of reCAPTCHA. For the administrator, Google must generate a site key and a security key. The administrator can enable this reCAPTCHA on a website only after you've used that key.
    Google reCAPTCHA Position -A Position option will be included in this version. The bottom left, bottom right or inline of the reCAPTCHA can be chosen by the administrator. This is entirely dependent on the store's theme or the admins' requirements.
