By default, Prestashop sorts products by their relevancy and does not consider products stock status. Showing the out-of-stock products first can lead to a bad user experience as it would be taking customers to the products that are not in stock and cannot be ordered as well.
The extension pushes the out of stock products down and does not change rest of the sorting behavior.
